What Is Withdrawal and How Long Will it Last?

Withdrawal is the name for the symptoms that occur when a person stops using a substance that they are addicted to. The length of withdrawals vary from person to person, and substance to substance, and it’s based on many factors. Some factors for withdrawal duration are the type of substance, the frequency of use, the dosage, and the person’s biological make-up, and other mental and physical health issues

Typically, patients who don’t have prolonged use or don’t have a high frequency or dosage will experience more mild withdrawal symptoms, and will require a shorter time for detoxification. Patients who have been using longer and more frequently will have longer withdrawals, and more painful symptoms. These symptoms are eased through medications in a medically managed detox facility, which is why it is recommended that you admit yourself to a treatment center to detox versus self-detoxing from home.

Get away from the conditions that lead you to abuse and travel for treatment! Traveling for treatment is an effective way to focus completely on your affliction and increases your chances for a successful rehab.
