Addiction extols a lot of harm on people who suffer within its grip. People in addiction often feel as though they are cursed or feel like it is their fault. However, this is not the case. People in active addiction need to know that it is a disease and that can liberate people from the shame and stigma of disease.

People with an addiction can get help. They don't have to live in active addiction forever. They don't have to become another statistic.

How Can I Help My Friend in Active Addiction?

If you have a loved one in active addiction, you may feel powerless. However, you don't have to feel powerless as they waste away in their condition. You can help.

The best way to help someone with an addiction problem is to hold an intervention. An intervention gathers family and friends together as a means to communicate the hurt and pain of addiction. A lot of people in addiction do not realize that they are hurting people close to them.

Hearing that they are hurting people other than themselves can help them try and change. If you are considering holding an intervention, hire an intervention specialist. An intervention specialist can help mediate the experience so that it goes smoothly.

If you have any questions about interventions or treatment in general, give us a call: (866) 578-7471 . Recovery is possible.

Finishing treatment is a huge step. You should feel happy. However, you shouldn't think your recovery is over. Rather, it is just beginning. 12-step groups like A.A. and N.A. in Salem, MA will help you find your peace.
