Reaching Out to Those in Brockton
"œWhen Brockton is home, everything is within reach." This slogan dons the front page of the city's website and this town in Massachusetts but it's official slogan is, "œThe city of champions." The city has this claim to fame because Rocky Marciano and Marvin Hagler, famous boxers, called this place home. In 2012 a twenty-foot-tall statue to Marciano was unveiled by the city in conjunction with the World Boxing Council to commemorate the only undefeated heavyweight boxer in history. In such a city of Champions, you would think they would compete with Boston to be the home of the professional teams based on their history.
In a city that thrives on the idea of success and being a champion, you may feel as though you aren't good enough because you are struggling with addiction to drug or alcohol. You can defeat your addiction and find your inner champion. Addiction is a disease and it's not an easy step to admit that you have a problem with substance abuse. Once you've made the first step of identifying the problem, you can take the next one and ask for help. It's a step that you are going to want to take because detox by yourself can be life threatening and working with a team of professionals to get you on the road to recovery. There are so many treatment options that it can be overwhelming; inpatient, outpatient, meetings and the list goes on. Let us help you find the right choice for you.

How Can I Persuade Someone to Go to Rehab?
If someone close to you is starting to lose their fight against an addiction, then you might have to hold an intervention so that they seek the help they need. Addiction and alcoholism are medical diseases that require professional help. So, even if you have been doing everything you can for your loved one it might not be enough. Addicts and alcoholics often times refuse to go to rehab because they do not think they have a problem; they think it is under their control when it is not.
Holding an intervention can prove to your loved one that their problem has gotten out of hand. If they are hearing it from family and friends who have seen firsthand how their addiction has hurt them then hopefully they will open up to the idea of rehab. Make sure to express concern and support in the intervention but not judgement. If the addict feels they are being attacked, then they will reject every point being made.
Many individuals would argue that a social environment is paramount in the decisions one makes, especially adolescents. Just as a negative social life may influence drug and/or alcohol use, a positive social environment may strongly influence a life of recovery. Local meetings and support groups are an effective way for adolescents to be in an environment where recovery is a way of life. These groups in Brockton are accessible and free, all you have to do is find one with our search tool and show up.
