Holistic Treatment Programs

The disease of addiction is a complex, progressive and fatal illness that requires professional treatment to overcome. Millions of Americans struggle with substance abuse disorders and addiction. Unfortunately, the majority of those needing treatment do not receive it.

Holistic programs are addiction treatment programs that are naturally based. These programs often do not use pharmaceuticals but instead use natural healing techniques only. These methods are often greatly preferred by some clients, especially if the drug of choice was a commonly prescribed prescription medication.

Holistic treatment centers let the body heal naturally, employing the use of vitamins, massage, acupuncture, yoga, meditation and other wholesome techniques to combat symptoms such as anxiety, fatigue and restlessness.

The whole person is taken into consideration and treated. All aspects of one’s using is incorporated into the treatment program. The physical, mental, emotional and spiritual maladies that threaten one’s sobriety and health must be addressed for the individual to move forward toward a brighter, happier future.

These programs are sometimes considered alternative treatment models as they do not necessarily focus or used such typical therapeutic techniques as the 12-steps and other forms of healing.
