Subacute detox occurs when the individual requires help detoxing off substances, however he or she does not display the symptoms typically considered life-threatening or as acutely painful.

People requiring subacute care are generally better stabilized and healthier. Subacute detox programs can either be inpatient or outpatient detox programs for those who require detox help but are not in danger of permanent injury or death.

Inpatient detox centers often prove beneficial for those who have been using for an extended period, while outpatient detox can benefit those with a strong emphasis on physical dependence without the mental and spiritual malady. Financially, inpatient verses outpatient detox may have significant differences.

Subacute clients may be able to detox without the use of pharmaceuticals. This may cause the initial phase of withdrawal to be more unpleasant, however the amount of time required to fully eliminate all mood and mind-altering substances from the body is drastically decreased.

This holistic technique means that the acute phase of detox is over within a few days, allowing the individual to participate in other programs or get back to work or school quicker.

If you need help stopping substances, find a detox center today. Below is a list of subacute detox facilities.
