Turn Your Life Around from Round Rock, Texas

Round Rock, TX is one of the fastest growing cities in the country with a population of approximately 122, 727 people. In 2008, Money magazine named it as the seventh-best American small city to live in. the city was named after an anvil shaped rock in the middle of Bushy Creek.

There’s a heavy anvil that’s weighing down the hearts and minds of people in Round Rock. That anvil is addiction. Some people in the city, like most cities in the country, live in active addiction.

Living in active addiction threatens the lives of those within it and those around it. For a lot of years, people didn’t see addiction as a disease. They viewed it as a moral shortcoming and people weren’t given the treatment they needed. They were often destined to homelessness or jail.

In many ways, they had no options. Public thought and policy has come a long way in the years to help people. Today there are a lot of treatment options to help people with an active addiction get the freedom they are seeking. Though there is no cure for addiction, there are treatment methods that can help people resist the urge to use.

What is Treatment Like?

Inpatient residential treatment, which is the most prominent treatment method, provides clients 24-hour residential care with other people in recovery. The first step of treatment is detox, or detoxification, which cleanses the person’s body of all the harmful chemicals they let in their body during use.

This period could take anywhere from a couple days to a couple weeks. It all depends on the person’s background and usage history.

After detox, the client will go through the therapeutic dimension of treatment. This phase will include mostly group and individual therapy. In these sessions, the client will learn how to integrate back into society. Addiction isolates people in ways that make them lose social skills and so treatment helps people re-connect to each other, which will help keep people on the path of recovery.

Treatment provides you with the tools to live in recovery. But it is just the beginning. You will need to apply the tools in the real world to stay recovering.
