The disease of addiction affects people from all walks of life. A degree or Ph.D. does not render one immune from this deadly and progressive illness. Without treatment, those who struggle with substance abuse has a dramatically decreased chance of recovery and survival.

People who work in a professional field are also prone to developing substance abuse issues. Some particular professional fields are thought to be more likely to contribute to substance abuse disorders than others. Whatever your profession, you may want to attend a program with others in professional fields.

When looking for addiction treatment it may be to your benefit to find a treatment center that caters to professionals like yourself. Communication and relating to others within your group can boost your recovery and chances of staying abstinent exponentially. If you have nothing in common with those in the treatment program you attend, the process may seem more difficult to grasp or foreign.
