Facing Addiction in Hollywood, Florida
Hollywood is in Broward County Florida and has 146,526 residents. The similarity of its name to the city in California is not a coincidence, the founder of the city, Joseph W. Young, wanted to build a motion picture capital on the east coast. It was originally called "The Hollywood by the Sea" because he already had "The Hollywood in the Hills" in New York.
Just like the other Hollywoods, and other cities, Hollywood, Florida also has members of its community that need help with substance abuse and has many quality rehabs for you to choose from. It is recommend that you do some research to see which one will be the best fit for you. If the ideal facility isn't local, consider traveling for detox and treatment, as the change in environment may be exactly what you need. When you get back from rehab, it's usually a good idea to find a meeting local to your area, as fellowships provide a safe, supportive group to help you stay on the road of recovery.
If a friend or family member of yours is suffering from addiction, don't despair. Trained professionals, called interventionists, are available to help you stage an intervention, coaching and guiding you to help you find the best way to reach your loved one.
Who Should Hold an Intervention?
The most successful interventions are held by intervention specialist. These people are trained in conflict management specifically in regards to addiction. They have the skills to help bring people together in a peaceful, coherent collaboration to get the person who is abusing substances the help they need.
However, anybody who has good diplomatic skills can hold an intervention. Generally, it should be someone who commands respect from the family and addict. Before the intervention, the team will converge to go over the script. It is important that the intervention stick to the script as much as possible because emotions are running wild and you don't want the intervention to fall off the tracks.
The goal of an intervention is to get the loved one into a treatment facility. However, if the intervention does not accomplish that goal, do not fret. People need to communicate the hurt and heartbreak attached to addiction and if anything, the intervention will plant a seed in that loved one to eventually propel them to get help in the future.
Aftercare is very important and finding meeting is a part of that. The support system that meetings like NA and AA can help you to stay on the right path. Though people feel like addiction can happen in a vacuum, recovery doesn't. You need people in your corner to help you fight against the temptations or you will get sucked back into that life
