The technology field has driven the economic development of Conway since Acxiom, one of the leading data centers in the nation, was founded there. Hewlett-Packard is a customer service and technical support center located in Conway and, besides Acxiom, employs more people than anyone else at 1,400 bodies. Though everything seems to be on the up-and-up here in Conway, one has to remember that there are many college age kids and statistics show that drug and alcohol use is high in these areas.

Addiction has been a topic of discussion amongst scholars for many years. These experts have come to agreement that drug and alcohol dependency is a medical condition, not a moral deficiency. People who struggle with addiction need extensive treatment and support in order to overcome their disease. So do not allow guilt and shame to hinder you from getting the help you need, and the life you deserve.

If you are looking to get help for your loved one, consider staging an intervention. The intervention brings loved ones together to help elucidate to your loved one the degree to which their addiction is hurting other people. At the end of the day, an effective intervention does not attack but educates and hopefully galvanizes them to get help. Recovery is possible. People are getting the help they need every day to confront the disease of addiction. You or your love one can get help, it's never too early, but it could be too late.

12-step groups are a way to help people heal within the context of community. At the core of these groups is the idea that people are powerless over their addiction on their own, but they can readily work through their addiction by attending meetings and finding a sponsor. A sponsor acts as a mentor to help them with the day-to-day grind of recovery.
