As I reflect on the past year of aftercare, the first word that comes to mind is gratitude. I am so grateful for the skills I have learned to achieve sobriety and maintain it. When I started, I was an anxious addicted mess. I was in denial about my addiction and I was angry about my circumstances. Through work in the program, support from the counselors and group, I have gained a new perspective on life and learned not only who I am, but how to cope with the challenges in my life. I have achieved a sense of clarity and restored trust in many of my relationships. This has given me a renewed purpose and passion for my life. I am hopeful for what the future holds and cherish the sobriety I have gained in recovery.
