About this Facility '+ '+
Cornerstone Recovering Community, located at 11001 South Wentworth Avenue in Chicago, IL, is a long-term residential treatment and sober living facility dedicated to supporting men in recovery from substance use disorders. This facility serves as both a structured treatment center and a transitional living environment, helping individuals reintegrate into society with dignity and purpose. Cornerstone offers essential services such as counseling support, job search opportunities, and access to basic necessities like food, hygiene products, and safe housing. These resources are designed to help residents stabilize after incarceration or active addiction and begin building a life rooted in recovery. While Cornerstone provides foundational support, personal responsibility plays a vital role in each resident’s success. The facility cannot monitor every individual’s choices 24/7, especially when residents are granted time for employment searches or community reintegration. Staff members are available to offer encouragement and guidance, but lasting recovery depends on the effort and accountability of each person in the program. Cornerstone accepts self-payment and Access to Recovery (ATR) vouchers, aiming to make recovery services accessible for underserved individuals in Illinois. Though the road to recovery is never easy, Cornerstone seeks to offer a stepping stone toward hope, healing, and personal transformation for those who are ready to take the next step.

My loved one passed away from an overdose less than a month after leaving this program—just steps away from the facility. It’s devastating to know that people in recovery can still so easily access substances nearby. From what we’ve learned, he didn’t get the help he desperately needed. What hurts even more is how his final moments were handled—with no dignity or compassion. I wish there had been more accountability, more protection, and more care. Our family is left grieving and searching for answers. People battling addiction deserve better support, especially when they’re trying to turn their lives around.

This facility truly gave me a fresh start. From the moment I arrived, they provided essentials like toiletries, food, and support to help me transition back into the community. We were encouraged to find work and build independent lives. While not everyone makes the right choices with their free time, that’s on the individual—not the program. The counselors are always available and genuinely want to help, but they can’t control every decision made by grown adults. For anyone serious about change, this place offers the tools and support to make it happen.
