Akron General Medical Center

I have mixed feelings about this place so I must be fair. I came in because if shortness of breath, the doctors are amazing at what they do and they genuinely care for the well being of their patients.However, what I'm not happy with is the process. I checked in at 11am on Sunday, here it is 10am Monday and I have not had anything to eat. I just received water this morning after asking for it more than 5 times. My daily med that I take has not been ordered and I'm concerned.This seems to be a public facility and the service is just that. I think they have a great staff of people here, it's just coaching and training needed to help them, the crew, understand the meaning of "customer service". I'm hoping to be seen soon so I can be discharged.There is a book I believe the leadership of this center should read, it's called "The Ice cream Maker". It teaches you that quality is the key ingredient in everything that you do.

Just had my Appendix removed by Dr Ali. The staff at Akron General has been outstanding. The only issue I have had is getting checked in for my pre-surgery testing. I got checked in but nobody was notified that I was waiting which resulted in a 2 hour wait for a 5 minute blood draw and a few questions about my medical history. Dr Ali did a wonderful job when I was admitted to the hospital the first time, my follow up visit and surgery. He's very friendly and actually listened to my concerns and didn't rush me. He explained everything on my CT scan and made sure I understood what I was looking at. He's got a great bedside manner and I highly recommend him.
