Painkillers are prescription drugs that are prescribed to relieve pain. Among the most commonly abused are Opioid (Narcotic) Pain Relievers, which affect the CNS by regulating activity that increases pain tolerance and decreases pain perception. Painkillers are the most commonly abused class of drugs due to their highly addictive properties, both physically and psychologically. Visit the Painkillers Page for more information.
