Willingway’s commitment to helping each family member discover and accept a new life free of all mood-changing substances is evidenced in its program of recovery, in which alcoholism or drug addiction is treated as a primary illness that affects the entire family system. Willingway’s experienced medical staff addresses the occurrence of dual diagnosis by assessing the alcohol and drug history, mental health diagnosis, and family of origin heredity/history. During the intensive inpatient program, the focus is to help patients establish a true mental health and chemical free baseline. This approach allows patients and clinical staff the opportunity to more accurately partner with one another in understanding their mental health and substance abuse issues.
