The disease of addiction is often described as cunning, baffling and powerful. This progressive and fatal mental illness has recently surpassed car accidents and gun-related deaths as the number one cause of accidental death in the United States.

Treating addiction is more work intensive than what was required to become addicted in the first place. Unfortunately, there is no quick fix for those suffering from substance abuse issues.

Many people today are in need of addiction treatment for prescription drugs, while more still may have begun using prescription drugs, but eventually graduated to more potent and dangerous illicit substances.

Whatever your substance of choice, chances are you need a more in-depth and lengthy treatment than the minimum 28-day program. After all, you probably didn’t become addicted in one-month.

45-day programs are becoming more popular as they offer a happy balance between the minimum amount of time in treatment and lengthier options. These programs provide more time for your body and mind to recover from the damage of drug or Alcohol abuse, while keeping down the amount of time required to stay in treatment.
