I have live here at the Welcome House on Peak Street in Dallas for 8 months. I have been well satisfied and comfortable.
Our house manager, Eddie is very competent and diligent in his position. He and Mr. JOHNSON, owner of this house, both go the extra mile to see that residents here are well fed and comfortable. I personally, I have no plans to move any time in the near future.

The owner is hands down a great man.
He is a man of God and is a generous kind hearted soul. He wants to help all the people he can, that is his way.
The facility is old and needs some repairs. The current house manager is helpful and will point you in the right direction. Zero tolerance for drama.
Meals could be improved and more variety for the money being dished out weekly. Over all... Good place to land and to get your feet under you.
Thanks Don and Eddie.

This was a very good place to start over. That was a time where I could not have instability in my life. While life can be a four letter word, Mr. Workins helped by providing a stable place to stay. Issues? Sure. But stay in prayer, and be grateful and mindful. Take it one day at a time, one hurdle at a time. I will always be grateful to Welcome House and to Mr. Workins.

After doing 27yrs in TX. Prison system I was blessed to be able to land at the welcome house. I say blessed bc it was the best place for me at this point in my life. I didn't have any family, never been to Dallas...and these guy's welcomed me, clothed me, feed me, and most importantly share the Love of CHRIST with me. Within 2weeks, I had full time job, paying my own way, and succeeding in life. Dr. Johnson feeds us spiritually and shares his wisdom and experience with all that desire to make it in life. I was never hungry while I was there. Mr. Workins (manager) is stern but fair. He won't stand for non-scense and will give you his shirt off his back, then showed you how to take care of it. I can't say enough about the welcome house, because this place believed in me. The above photo is my wife and I, who I met while living there. We've been married for 5yrs now, and we still communicate with the welcome house. We are family and treat each other as such. Thank you all so much for the Love and guidance you gave me.

I was in and out of the Welcome House in 2000 and 2001, I was that crazy white crackhead running around South Dallas Jim (K). Mr. Johnson, Richard, & Kathy were running the place. They literally Saved My Life, a couple of times. It wasn't that nice back then, They had meetings there, we went to NA & AA Conventions'. After leaving Welcome House I moved to Arkansas and started my own business, with nothing. By getting a deposit on my first job, and buying the tools and material with that money, and doing the job, The Right Way, repeat Until retirement. I did that by taking One Day At A Time. The days turned into weeks, that turned into months, that turned into years. Mr Johnson is a Saint in my book. "Welcome House is a Place of Refuge" for those that want it! It's just One day you gotta do good, That Day is Today! God Bless you all for your work.

Like so many others before me I arrived here fresh out of prison. I was there for a little over two years And in that time I have come to know the owner and the manager of the property. Without a doubt they have a heart for humanity and care about all those that come to their doors and because of them I walked out and even better person than I already was. I have seen them take measures to beautify the property and take care of the property as well as it's tenants. They have an amazing kitchen where you can prepare your own meals if you like, and a quaint relaxing area to enjoy the day outside in The meals that they cook and provide are awesome and you have other former tenants like myself that come through occasionally and provide meals or barbecue and help out because they have been such a help to us. They help clothing and other necessities, and are very affordable. Living here helped me focus on reintegration into society and save money for my eventual move out into my own place . The staff and tenants are respectful and understanding of the needs of those with substance abuse issues and legal issues. The manager Eddie is without a doubt a kind ,humble and intelligent human with compassion but by no means a pushover. If you are looking for a place to stay as your transitioning back into society I highly recommend coming to the welcome house where they truly do make you feel welcome . And when your time is up there you are always welcome still! I enjoy my once or twice a month drop ins to check on everyone..... the owner Mr. Johnson is a first class citizen and example of what can happen when you choose to take your life in a different direction. What a perfect name The Welcome House...

I have nothing but good things to say about The Welcome House. Dr Johnson has a great reputation and is willing to help those that will help themselves. The house manager, Eddie, is a great cook, and always has something humerus to say. The rent is certainly affordable and the location is close to a bus line.
