Founded in 1968 by Juan José García Ríos in Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico, Hogar CREA—short for Home and Community for the Re-Education of Persons with Addictions—has grown to operate centers across the United States, Puerto Rico, Central and South America, and the Caribbean. In Pennsylvania, locations include Bethlehem, Reading, and Allentown.At the Bethlehem center, residents find more than just treatment—they find a safe, home-like environment built on personal responsibility, mutual assistance, and self-effort. Peer-led programs provide guidance, structure, and encouragement, helping participants develop strong character, make healthier decisions, and rebuild their lives with dignity.Hogar CREA believes that every person is born with an innate sense of self-respect and dignity, qualities that can be restored and strengthened even after the challenges of addiction. Hogar Crea Women’s Center offered me a safe, supportive place to start my recovery. The staff were kind, and the counseling was helpful. While I feel there’s room for more individualized attention, I still made progress and left with a better understanding of myself.

The program at Hogar Crea Women’s Center was both challenging and rewarding. Group therapy helped me realize I wasn’t alone, and the structure kept me accountable. My only suggestion would be to add more creative or recreational activities. Overall, I’m leaving with a stronger mindset.

It worked for me. I've been clean ever since. You really work for your recovery there, so it sticks with you more when you leave there. And helps you remember where you just came from and what you never wanna go back to again. Meaning being a active addict.

Bought a brownie from them when they had a stand set up outside the Wal-Mart in exeter with baked goods. The brownie was inedible. Completely burned on the bottom. The top looked great. Got home the kids opened it and all burnt. Had to pry it from the aluminum container. They were pushy trying to get us to buy it, so we did because our daughters wanted one. Never again!!!!

Supposed to help "save lives" but have no problem kicking people out on the streets with nowhere to go for minor inconveniences to them. The clients are the "staff". Little to no professionals. Bottom line, there's plenty of other options without insurance where you get actual TREATMENT instead of slaving away baking cakes and selling them to keep the place open .

My Aunt Cassandra Gaines was in the program. She went on her own will.
Applying what the program teaches & having a personal relationship with God. Changed her inward out. She gives this program praise for helping save her life and charging her mind.
She's still clean and sober and always motivating ppl to not give up on there dreams.

My first time getting clean I stayed clean for 8 years. I relapsed and it was hard finding my way back. By being persistent in finding a rehab didn't take No for a answer; sought help from any and everybody I found my way back. Through Hogar Crea PA womens center I realized just putting the drug down didn't mean I was clean and sober I had to change everything about myself. Especially my way of thinking adapting new attitude and behaviors and a spiritual connection with my higher power. I'm grateful to have 3yrs clean today 🙏 a change of environment does help. Thank you Hogar Crea for helping change ME ❤

I ran into three men who I can see are trying to change their lives around, but standing outside in the rain, basically doing addict behavior because when you’re addicted to drugs, you have nowhere to live, you’re out in the street panhandling and selling things how can you not see? It’s just the same but in a different form.I personally do not feel like this establishment teaches you about recovery. Yes, it is God base and yes, without a higher power what do you have but can you please explain to me how baking cakes and selling them in the area is supposed to teach them to stay sober I was in your program once when it was a female house, it was more. of a cult I had to ask to get up to the kitchen. There was a certain time I was able to shower never once opened. Had to ask if I can get up if I can enter the kitchen never once open a big book to Talked about the principles or about the solution. This place needs to be shut down just getting money from the state yall house people there and you get paid from their insurance.
