Azleway Substance Abuse Program

Azleway Substance Abuse Program (ASAP), located in Big Sandy, Texas, provides long-term residential treatment for young men ages 13–17 who are struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring mental health disorders. Founded in 1997 as part of the broader Azleway organization, ASAP combines substance abuse counseling with dual diagnosis care in a structured, faith-based environment.Specializing in both mental health and substance abuse treatment, ASAP offers individualized recovery programs that focus on relapse prevention, personal growth, and the development of strong support systems. Through group and individual counseling, experiential therapy, education, and relapse prevention planning, youth are empowered to build healthier futures. Clients referred from the court and judicial system are also supported through this program.In addition to therapy, participants receive at least 20 hours of on-site academic instruction each week through the fully accredited Azleway Charter School, ensuring continuity in their education while in treatment. The program is facilitated by licensed professional counselors and licensed chemical dependency counselors who are committed to helping each resident succeed.Azleway Substance Abuse Program accepts Medicaid, state-financed insurance, private health insurance, cash or self-payment, and offers financial assistance to ensure accessibility. Funded in part by state programs, local probation departments, and private contributions, ASAP continues Azleway’s mission—faithfully restoring lives and relationships of children and families in crisis since 1979.
