Beware Craig Pierce and his organization, Southwest Family Guidance Center & Institute in New Mexico. Our family had a few sessions with Christina "Renee" LaVail (formerly Martinez), at SWFG in 2015. Then, she arranged "individual counseling" with my husband, a disabled Veteran with PTSD/TBI because, “Renee said she needs Pro Bono hours for her promotion, so I said I could keep seeing her.” But, when my husband got involved with Renee, he started acting impulsively, verbally and physically abusing his daughter and me, and having unprotected sex with other people. While Renee provided three years of intimate meetings, phone calls and text messages for my husband (encouraging him to “feel free to reach out” and making herself available nights, weekends, holidays, and when on vacation) she refused to talk to me.
Renee was promoted to Clinical Director, while her "client" became estranged from his daughter. Then Renee encouraged him in "exciting things" that bankrupted our marriage. After that she was "too busy" to take his calls. Convinced that he and Renee “had feelings for each other”, but now abandoned by his "therapist", my husband started drinking, acting more impulsive, and was hospitalized for suicide attempt in 2018. While Renee started offering her services as a sex therapist, and "tweeted" that she used to work "at a strip club" (Renee LaVail, LMFT @abqsextherapy, April 24, 2019). And jokes about therapist/client BDSM fantasies (August 6, 2019). A complaint has been filed with the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department against SWFG and C. Renee LaVail, for unethical behavior violating professional standards of practice, and incompetence that devastated our marriage and family.
