I just left this program after 8 months of being there. I was assaulted by a staff member, there is no A/C in the building, the water heater broke down a month ago and there is no hot water for the foreseeable future, the whole third floor has severe water damage and is subject to leaks every time it rains, washing machines and dryers don’t work, the freezer and conventional oven broke down and everyone is worried whether or not their next meal will give them food poisoning while the chef serves raw chicken and the health department hit them with 23 health violations, groups run til 9pm, you can’t have your cell phone, if you get caught with a cell phone they will confiscate it and you will never see it again, they will place you on a behavioral contract which requires you to wear a modern day dunce hat in the form of an orange shirt that gets washed with the mop heads and you have to work your ass off with no breaks from 5am-10pm for up to 30+ days, they are not operating under the new oasas guidelines so there is not a nurse there 24 hours a day and the nurse that is there will cancel your medical appointments even if you’re having seizures and you’re scheduled to see a neurologist. There is no psychiatrist, no therapist, no housing specialist, no social worker, the staff there makes fun of people with no teeth, people that are mentally challenged, homosexuals and the homeless like they’re running a comedy club(daily), while they discriminate against anyone who is on medicated assisted treatment, the directors of the program can be compared to nazi dictators, once you are in you will never get out and that’s a sad fact that 1 out of 36 people complete this program successfully. They threaten to give you a behavioral contract if you call your mandate because they don’t want to be held accountable for any of these facts. A staff member assaulted me the other day and they never reported the incident, did not allow me to go to the hospital to get an unbiased opinion of my injury and they did not fire the man responsible. While a director laughed at me explain the incident over the phone to my mandate 2 days later. Go to this program at your own risk or better yet DON’T GO TO THIS PROGRAM!
