Review: Fairmount Behavioral Health System is a gem for anyone battling substance use and mental health issues in Philadelphia. The alcohol rehab program was well-structured and deeply supportive, especially when paired with their anxiety and depression counseling. I appreciated that they treated both my mind and body—from detox all the way through outpatient planning. This hospital truly understands recovery, and I’ll forever be grateful for the tools they gave me to start again. Highly recommend for anyone in Pennsylvania who needs real help.

Review: If you’re looking for a trustworthy rehab center in Pennsylvania, Fairmount is the place to go. I came in broken—struggling with depression, drug use, and constant emotional pain. The mental health professionals here understood what I needed and guided me through a life-changing recovery journey. From detox to group therapy to aftercare planning, every step was handled with compassion and professionalism. I left stronger, healthier, and finally excited about my future.

Review: I cannot thank Fairmount Behavioral Health System enough for their incredible care and support. I was battling alcoholism and intense anxiety when I arrived, and I was terrified. The detox was supervised and comfortable, and their rehab and mental health programs helped me uncover the deeper causes of my addiction. The hospital is a peaceful place to heal in Philadelphia, and the staff genuinely cares about each patient’s recovery. I’m now over 90 days sober and thriving in my new life.

Review: From the moment I entered Fairmount, I felt like I was in a safe and understanding environment. The hospital staff was experienced in handling dual diagnoses, and I got incredible help for both drug addiction and severe depression. The detox process was handled gently, and the rehab program gave me the structure I desperately needed. Being treated in Pennsylvania, close to home, made it easier to stay connected with loved ones during recovery. This place gave me hope—and my life back.

Review: Fairmount Behavioral Health System helped me take control of my life when I thought it was beyond saving. I came in struggling with alcohol addiction, anxiety, and depression, and the compassionate team guided me through detox and into meaningful recovery. Their mental health care in Philadelphia is top-notch, and they truly treat the whole person—not just the addiction. Rehab wasn’t easy, but the support here made all the difference. I left stronger, more hopeful, and with a solid plan for staying sober in Pennsylvania.

Review: I had high hopes for Fairmount Behavioral Health System, but my experience there was disappointing. I went in needing urgent mental health and rehab care for alcoholism and depression, and while the detox helped physically, I didn’t feel emotionally supported. The hospital in Philadelphia felt more like a holding area than a place of healing. The group therapy was repetitive and I didn’t get much individual attention. Unfortunately, I left feeling just as lost, and had to seek further treatment elsewhere in Pennsylvania.

Review: I checked into Fairmount after a drug and alcohol relapse triggered by worsening anxiety. The hospital setting was secure and the detox was handled appropriately, but I found the communication from staff to be inconsistent. The mental health programming was basic, and I didn’t feel like my depression was addressed in depth. While I appreciated being in a safe environment in Philadelphia, I think Fairmount has room to grow when it comes to personalized recovery plans in their rehab program.

Review: Fairmount Behavioral Health in Philadelphia offers a decent rehab program, especially if you’re coming in for a dual diagnosis like I was. I needed support for both alcohol dependency and mental health concerns, mainly depression and anxiety. The hospital does provide detox and structured treatment, but it felt a bit understaffed at times, and the environment wasn’t always calming. Still, it gave me the tools I needed to start working on recovery and move toward a healthier life. For Pennsylvania residents, it's an accessible option worth considering.

Review: I went to Fairmount for help with a combination of drug addiction and untreated mental health issues, and it was a good experience overall. The detox process was handled very carefully, and the staff made me feel safe and supported throughout. The rehab programming was structured and helpful, especially for someone like me who had never addressed my anxiety and depression before. While the hospital setting can be intense at first, it turned out to be exactly what I needed to kickstart my recovery in Pennsylvania. I wish individual therapy sessions were more frequent, but the care team was solid.

Review: Fairmount Behavioral Health System in Philadelphia was exactly what I needed at my lowest point. I was struggling with severe anxiety, depression, and alcoholism, and this hospital gave me the structure and care to finally begin my recovery journey. The mental health staff were professional and compassionate, helping me detox safely and understand the roots of my addiction. I participated in both inpatient rehab and group therapy, and felt truly seen and heard. If you’re in Pennsylvania and need help with drug or alcohol problems, this place is a lifeline.

This place is horrific!! We weee recommend fed to come here by the hospital. We were her for 5 min and decided it was best to go to another facility. They would not let us leave and threatened to 302 my child, even though nothing had been signed and this was a voluntary decision. The people here can not be trusted! We were much happier with the results we received at a facility in Lancaster.

I have been contemplating for years on sharing my stay, but I am sharing as this place made my mental health worse and I’m still struggling! I voluntarily put myself here because I was struggling to grieve the lost of my father & other personal life circumstances. I was overwhelmed, anxious, and depressed. The staff was very demanding upon arrival and wanted me to fill out paperwork before my mother arrived, I was a minor and too mentally exhausted to comprehend the paperwork. I hadn’t eaten for almost 2 days and they gave me cold breakfast and didn’t ask any of my likes/restrictions. Between this and stepping foot on my unit, I immediately wanted to leave. I barely ate my whole stay because of my dislikes, and they did not care to make sure I was fed. The whole place felt like a prison and I lost a lot of unnecessary weight during my stay. My medications were held most of my stay causing further issues, but they were quick to make sure I had Prozac and Benadryl, causing me to become addicted to Benadryl! My personal belongings were held from me, and I had to argue with staff until one was nice enough to just give me my belongings. I understand safety, but these were my clothes and feminine products! They would always threaten to sedate us and we were sent off to our rooms for “quiet time”. This place did not care about our needs, and daily I was taught anger management because that is what the rest of my unit needed help with. It was unfair that myself and a few others had to listen to that, while we needed different coping mechanisms. I saw my care team once during my stay, but again did not receive proper treatment nor did they allow us to go outside! My stay was in March of 2017, and I’m still struggling as they made me worse. My current medical provider informed me that my current symptoms stem from Prozac as I was to be properly screened before taking it. Years of dissociation and anxiety could of been prevented as I most likely have Bipolar/BPD and not the long page of diagnosis they gave us, which again they didn’t even care for me while I was there. How would they know what is wrong with me? Whatever you do, stay far away from here!!!

Incredibly awful place, never go there if you can avoid it. Most of the staff don't care about you or your mental health at all. I was there for about a week for depression and they cared more about my stomach showing a bit than they cared about the fact that I told them I wanted to self-harm. I was also denied calling my parents when I was having a panic attack/breakdown because it was not during phone time (which was only about an hour or less each day). They don't let you have any contact with anyone except parents/family, their school program is terrible and did not give me work accurate for my grade level. They wouldn't let me keep most of the things my parents sent even when my parents were told I would be allowed to have them and I was only allowed to have 3 outfits total. The food was bad, and we only got a partially good meal on occasion. You have to ask to go from the day room to your own room even just to go to the bathroom (they're across the hall from each other) and you don't even get a bathroom door, only a faulty curtain that fell down with even the slightest pressure. A hole in the wall for the toilet paper and the curtain barely went low enough to cover the toilet. Overall a terrible experience and was truly hard for me to recover from. I would not recommend it to anyone and if I could give negative stars I would.

I had a seizure from medication given to me by this location. Staff thought it was funny and took their sweet time getting me counter acting meds, eventually transferred to the floor with the most unstable patients. For some odd reason my pillow was taken the rest of my stay and was without one the rest of my stay despite multiple requests. Later the doctor assumed I was going to sue and threatened to call CPS to have my kids taken away. I told my family I will cut all ties if they think they’ll send me here again. This place could be comparable to a Hellish purgatory if not Hell itself.

The quality of care is horrible, the front desk administration is rude and unprofessional, the social workers don’t care to meet the needs of their patients. The nurses are rude, disrespectful and found insubordinate. Psychologist do whatever they want regarding medication with no understanding of the health history of their patient. They can’t even track mail for their patients. The food is horrific; far from hospital food. I wouldn’t send the devils Mother here or anyone for that sake. If you’re looking to get wurst this is your place. If you’re looking for your love one to get better this is not the facility. It’s sad that facilities like this exist in their current state and condition. They need complete reformation.

I only give it one star just to leave a review. I was here as a kid and they did the most horrific things to me. If you didn’t abide by a rule you’d get held down and a shot to calm you. Therapist at the time would never really listen just prescribe you medicine. Staff would tease and taunt you even egg on patient fights. All the kids there were just unwanted. They never deserved to be there. You suck DO BETTER!!! Stop shaking hands with the foster system just to make money.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I would not suggest bringing your loved ones here at all.. even your worst enemy. They misdiagnose patients and completely leave you in the dark when it comes to communication with the patients family. My father was there for exactly 20 days and I never got to speak to a doctor. Barely got to speak with social workers. They have random social workers working with patients and a different one every other day how is that supposed to work when you’re supposed to be getting to know the patient for proper diagnosis. I told this facility on numerous occasions that my father was unable to take a certain medication because it causes bad side effects and it took till day 15 for them to stop giving it to him. The only people I was ever able to get in contact with were the front desk ladies. Which luckily were a lot of help in certain situations. So the one star that I had to give can be for them. I could say a lot more about this facility but I’m going to leave it at this. In my opinion bring your loved ones anywhere else.

Hi, i went here back in 2021 this wasn’t my first mental hospital but by far the worst one i’ve been to. the staff picked favorites and were so mean, wouldn’t give everyone a 2nd choice of a meal, had me sleep on blood stained bedsheets, didn’t tell me i was getting discharged until a couple days before hand and didn’t tell my family, i had to. when i was getting discharged they lost my shoelaces and told me to just buy new ones because they were cheap. don’t go here unless you wanna come back worse

This place treated me horribly. Violated the HIPPA laws and lost all of my hundreds of dollars worth of belongings. They also left me alone until I was too weak to walk on my own!!! I had to go to the ER!! If you care even a little bit about your family member do not send them here. This is a scam which takes advantage of peoples hope for a better future. They take your phone when you get there so there is no way to document the abuse. It's a nightmare and can ruin any hope a person with mental health issues might have of achieving a normal future. I've never been treated so badly... Proceed with caution!!!

This place deserves zero stars. This was the worst impatient psych facility I have ever been to. The staff would make us go to our rooms for the rest of the week and not be allowed out just for making 1 mistake. We spent more time in our rooms each day then we spent getting treatment. But The very few group therapies we had they were ran by some pretty helpful therapist. they were always willing to listen and help but the majority of the staff were emotionally and physically abusive. If you seriously want treatment then don't go here. The staff here would psychically hit me or hurt me,they would talk to me like a child, they had other kids try to beat me up,girls would take there bras off and strangle each other. I was also going through withdrawals at this place and I was always super respectful and was calm for the most part but they just treated me like I an animal. Every single nurse except nurse Joey. All the nurses except him refused to give me Advil or anything to help with the withdrawal symptoms at this time they also refused to give me my meds (which I understand why buts its still frustrating) they wouldnt give me them because they didn't have a psychiatrist to sign off because it was a weekend so I was anxious and my mind was all over the place and I still made sure to be polite to them so they wouldnt hurt me or send me to my room or scream in my face or lock me in a empty concrete room for hours. This did way more harm then good. Please don't trust this place to help you. These staff only care about the paycheck.

was just released from here on Monday June 24, for the most part the staff was great. Dr Leevy was no help, how can you develop a relationship with a care provider over an iPad? I couldn’t. They had us take nap time for a hour everyday like children, when asked for water tspne of the staff acted like we were bugging them too much.I made a great friend who became a personal support friend and called to have her call me because the therapy I got here didn’t help and am now heading to another facility because I’m still having issues. When asked to leave a message for my friend who I know is there because I saw her before I left I was told once ok I could, when transferred over the tech on N5 told me that was not allowed. I don’t want my friend to think I’m ditching her when she calls but now because if the EXCELKRNT STAFF that won’t happen.

This place seems to be getting a lot of bad reviews and I’m not sure why. I stayed here a while ago for a little over a week. I was 19 so everything was very new to me. The workers are nice for the most part. There is one worker named Chris, I’m not sure if he still works there, but he was very genuine and has a positive uplifting attitude. They have several activities that you can do to entertain yourself.Their food is actually pretty good too. There are other institutes you can go to for the same reason that are actually bad, like friends, for example. But I was more than pleased with my stay at Fairmont. And I’m not gonna lie, when I left, I actually wanted to go back. This was the only institute I’ve ever stayed in, and I’m glad that this was the one that was chosen for me. If I ever came down to it again. I would be happy to go here.

I thank God for Fairmount Behavioral Health as my son was in Philadelphia traveling from another mid-Atlantic state, he had been stranded for three days, and my hands were tied at the time as I live in the midwest. I found this facility online by the grace of God and directed my son there. He was immediately admitted with welcoming concern, care, and excellent treatment. My son remained there for 10 days as Fairmount would not discharge him until they had confirmation he had a safe place to live — and although his out-of-state health insurance could not be used there. I was able to fly there to pickup my son on the 11th day of his stay, drive him back to his State, rent him an apartment …. During my son’s stay at Fairmount, the nurses and social worker were in constant communication with me as to my son’s treatment and their efforts to help him find a home in Philadelphia and/or to help him return to his home state. I was also in constant communication with my son daily and he would always express how happy he was there with the staff, doctors, social worker, friends he made with the other patients, and how good the food tasted although it was healthy and nutritious. I highly recommend Fairmount Behavioral Health due to my son’s positive experience for a solid 10-day admission and my relief of mind that he was in good hands during his ordeal.

I was in that rehab for more than 10 years ago. First I did 7 days of detox at the beginning was hard but thank God I finished the detox, I was there for another 30 days and I can tell you that 11 years later I kept myself clean thanking God because that place was the foundation of saving my life. I will recommend it to anyone who wants to save his or her life. The nurse, the doctor the janitor the volunteer, and everyone was part of my recovery, thank to everybody, 11 years later I still clean.

Went here on a 304 which grants me the ability to leave at will and deny help, i was forcefully kept here against my will and on top of that the staff were very verbally and physically abusive. We barely were given any activities and only were able to go outside every other/ few days. My 12 days in there felt like a year. Do not send your loved ones here they should be closed down and staff and management incarcerated.

My mother forced me to go here as a 16 year old minor under the guise of just talking to a doctor about my occasional pot smoking. I was brought to the facility, we chatted & then mom up left, I stayed. No explanation. It was very scary. Inside, it was a horrible experience. I also learned WAY WAY more about a variety of drugs and how to use them while I was in this position. Funny, because after a couple of days I was looking in my wallet & found a bit of weed that the staff had missed. I turned it in & was actually chastised and shamed, they said I was trying to abuse again- LOL!!Well, I’m in my mid 50’s now, and I recently came across the Kate plus 8 situation where poor Colin was dropped off. Big trigger & I am still traumatized and I am devastated for that poor little boy. Sad to see this crap institution still exists. Incidentally Mom still is a very ill black out alcoholic and can’t live without her junk food and cigarettes. My adult children won’t even go near her. Maybe we should have admitted mom instead of me!

It took some time for me to write a review about this place but. After reading an article about Kids Peace and the fact that they’re under investigation. The same needs to be done with Fairmont. My daughter had been in patient a number of times, the very last time she was there was for about 6 months during this time she had an inappropriate relationship with a worker. That seemed to somehow get swept under the rug after bringing concerns to the therapist she had. Once she was transferred to another facility, this same worker contacted the other facility because she wanted to be added to my daughter’s phone list. During my child’s stay at the other facility it was found that my daughter and the worker had been communicating the whole time she was at Fairmont by email and she was sending her gifts from Amazon. There were messages of the worker telling my daughter to delete their messages so that no one would find out. She even went as far as to make plans with my daughter to they could be together once she was released. All of this was reported to them supposedly this worker got fired.. But parents please be careful sending your children to this facility. These kids already have issues. And it’s sad to know there are sick workers that want to mess children up mentally even worse

Fairmount Behavioral Health Hospital is simply the best facility with the best staff I have been to in the Greater Philadelphia region. Social Worker Channell and Dr. Gratz were consummate professionals handling my case, and Technician Lisa was particularly caring, insightful and helpful. If you need help with your mental health or find yourself in crisis, choose Fairmount.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. This hospital is horrible! I was sent here in 2022 for self harm and suicidal idealization and this hospital was more traumatic than helpful. I was on the women's trauma unit and Dr. Silverman was so unprofessional. He rolled his eyes at me and took me off a med and didn't inform me he did that, so I thought I was still on it. He raised my medications too fast and it felt like I was sideways (not sure if that makes sense. I just don't know how else to explain it) and when I brought up the concern to a Tech she said "oh its just a migraine, go get some Tylenol." It didn't feel like a migraine and didn't feel like she was actually listening or didn't care to listen. The one day I was shaving and I accidentally cut my leg and Dr. Silverman said "Maybe if you eat more, you wouldn't have cut yourself" Which irritated me because I didn't do it on purpose and I was eating. One of my first days there, they pulled the blankets off me because apparently it was time for meds, they could've just called my name to wake me up. The unit was shut down almost everyday because of people causing trouble, We has something called quiet time and we had to stay in our rooms for an hour while they did shift change, which didn't help my mental state because I was alone, with my thoughts for an hour. All the staff there is ghetto except for the one tech I really liked, That was the only staff member who actually helped me. 10/10 would not recommend going here if you are really struggling with your mental health!

My experience with Fairmount has been Positive. I have visited the facility several times. My CASA child has been in this facility for 5 months. She is waiting for a bed to become available in another RTF. Her stay was not supposed to be 5 months but it seems to have worked out as a blessing for her. The social worker has been wonderful to work with throughout her stay. She provided an excellent report to me of my child's stay with details related to groups and therapy provided for this child. The psychiatrist has been instrumental in managing her ability to achieve and aspire for me as a result of successful nedication management. Her attitude has improved, and her behavior issues have improved significantly. She is working on goals and objectives to achieve them for her future. Recently she was able to verbalize her plans for the future and how to achieve them. The facility has many group and individual activities to assist with providing an environment where the child can grow and develop in a positive way.

Fairmount Behavioral Health System did not meet expectations in terms of overall service. The facility felt disorganized, and the staff seemed overwhelmed, leading to long wait times and a lack of proper communication. The level of care didn’t feel personalized or attentive, which is disappointing for a place that deals with mental health. The environment wasn’t as welcoming or supportive as it should be, and there were noticeable issues with responsiveness and patient care. Overall, it felt like the focus was more on procedure than on truly helping patients. Wouldn’t recommend unless improvements are made.

During the lowest time of my life, I was admitted here on 2 seperate occasions. My first stay, I was in the dual unit, which is co-ed. There was a male patient there who harassed me from the moment I arrived. He would come into my room while I was sleeping and sick. I remember feeling so cornered and nervous. Thankfully my roommate came in and he slithered out like the snake he was. I brought up my concerns to the staff there after that. This one tech made it seem like I was encouraging him. Excuse me? I was laid up in my bed, not even able to sit up. And you had the audacity to accuse me of asking for him to harass me? Unacceptable. She then violated patient confidentiality by telling me to stop talking to this man and then told me that he was there for burning down a girls house. Again, I was not talking to him. I appreciated the heads up, but it was unnecessary. She literally told me to stop being friendly to him. I guess cowering in my bed was considered friendly, idk. But definitely should have had this conversation with the guy, not me. After days more of this guys harassment, it was only addressed when the other men in the unit called an emergency meeting for the staff there. They pretty much had to threaten that if the guy who harassed me stayed in that unit, they would handle it themselves. They told the staff that they witnessed the guy harassing me. They witnessed me avoiding him at all costs. They all heard me ask the guy to leave me alone. Finally, after they intervened, they moved the guy who harassed me for days. But only because of the fellow patients losing their patience watching me be harassed for days, while being accused of asking for it. The next time I had to visit this place, I had a better experience on an all female trama unit. But some of the staff there would treat us like we were trash beneath their shoe. Why take a job there, knowing you are going to be responsible for people who are suffering? Not at all staff was like that, however. There were a few who you could really tell they wanted to see us succeed. It felt good to feel that from someone, so they are the real heros. I wish I remembered names of any of the staff. But it's been many years since those visits. Luckily I turned my life around, but I can't credit Fairmount for that.. I was worse after Fairmount, before I got better. Hopefully it's changed in the years since my 2 visits.

Not using my original email, but they literally lost my stuff while I was a patient there. It wouldn’t have been such a big deal if my childhood stuffed animal wasn’t one of the lost things. Personally, I was on the children’s unit and staff constantly yelled at us and kept us in our room, if one kid was bad we all couldn’t be in the tv rooms, or if there was a fight, instead of unit restricting the two of them they did it to all of us.

While I was there. The staff was very professional, and treated me with respect and dignity. They made me feel at home. I got yelled at for asking for double portions but.... I should be able too eat like a king it's me 😅. They feed you pretty well though besides that. My favorite staff member was Ms Prya. I loved her energy she is a beautiful soul.

If you have a family member in this facility please remove them asap! I currently have a family member that has been missing since Tuesday night. He just was able to make contact. While on the phone with him a nurse from N1 instructed him to tell me to call the main number to talk about his issue. I proceeded to call the main number and was transferred twice and was hung up on from someone in N1. Called a third time and spoke with an admission representative who was very condescending when I asked should I come up there due to being hung up on twice. He response I can come up there but will be met with police. At this point in asked for a supervisor whom told me what was going to happen with my family member, but when speaking about his employee explained he was not there to witness the conversation. It's sad that I am a behavior health specialist and had experience what I hear over and over again with mental health facilitiesIf you have a family member in this facility, please remove them as soon as possible! They had the wrong address for us. We corrected it twice. In person verbally, and on the phone when a lady called about payment. We told her we didn't get a bill, she updated our address and still we have not received a bill. Neither did she offer any details about what we owe. That was almost a year ago. If I knew it would be so much trouble then I would have asked for all the details over the phone. For the last 8 months we have bee trying to get them to send the bill. How are we suppose to pay without a bill? I spoke to Rachel in the billing department three times and each time she said she needed to print the bill first and then she could email it to me. The challenge was that it took a long time to print (I don't understand it at all). But that I should expect an email in a few hours. Each time we thought we would get the bill via email: nothing. It has been months since the last time we got anyone on the phone in billing or finance, whatever the department is, about this. The phone just goes to voicemail for months now. Leaving a message doesn't make a difference either. No one calls back. I check my voicemail. I check my calls. Like what is going on? I just want to pay the bill! It's coming up on a year since we were contacted but we can't get in contact with anyone to resolve this! Writing this review is my second last resort. I have one other thing to try. After that I have no clue what to do if that doesn't work! Also, please don't ask me to use the contact form. I did that months ago and nobody contacted me. I didn't even get an email confirmation message with a copy of my message like contact forms are supposed to work. I just don't understand any of this. I just want to pay the bill and move on with my life. Can you guys respond and tell me who I can call or see about this?
