Comunidad Unida Para La Rehabilitación de Adictos doing business as C.U.R.A., Inc. was founded by Oswaldo Fiero and GloriaPlaza in response to a need that was not being met in the Hispanic community in the City of Newark : Alcoholism and Drug Addiction. The agency was incorporated in 1973 as a non-profit 501 (c) (3) Hispanic Community-Based Organization, and opened its first residential treatment center in front of City Hall.
