Unfortunately I've had to be in West Point two times in the past four years for impatient keep therapy and counseling, in 2021 May 31st I entered into West Pines inpatient treatment center in Wheat Ridge CO I'd been through the detox program from my alcoholism and they're really caring great employee in the detox department Got me into the treatment center. I completed that program and I have not had one drink of alcohol of any form since then They saved my life with my alcoholism. On March 20th 2023 I returned to West Point because I had relapsed on my drug of choice, it was totally change experience from what I had in 2021 the employees and nurses rude and seemed not to care for each individual the same when they were trying to get therapy and get help counseling from their from their addictions and drug problems. for example I'm diabetic I have a lot of doctors restrictions such as I can't sit in one place for more than 15 minutes in an hour and I can't walk for more than 15 minutes an hour All these different things that my doctors have restricted on me They did not even bother to provide the things I needed I needed a pillow to elevate my feet the night they would not grant me that I also had a roommate who had sleep apnea And I have and I have sleep apnea but I took my sleep machine due for respect of who I might be sleeping with in the same room And the roommate that came in did not bring his sleep apnea machine So I was awake a lot at night. I mentioned it to the counselors and nurses many times and no one helped to get this man a machine So when I became tired and sleepy during group and then I went to lay down for 15 minutes I got an infraction each time And and also I was on medications that I'm not used to for an infection that I had made and it made me sleepy and groggy so the counselors gave me infractions for trying to get some rest. and granted it's a rehab facility and everyone's trying to change But people need to take into consideration where we are coming from what type of people we are and don't be so judgmental on situations and understanding that even if I can cuss and say bad words in group but when I'm introducing myself to someone that's just coming in and we tell a little joke between two men and then they make me leave the next morning because the nurse overheard the joke which was not really that bad of a joke. The gentleman that came in on Thursday the 28th of March said what's your name again And I said my name is Richard And he said do you go by Richard or Rich, and I said just don't call me Dick. the next morning I was asked to leave the treatment program It was four days early before my discharge during this therapy clients are required to write their addiction timeline and in 2021 my addiction timeline would would read to all the people on the floor Each person was allowed to do this or required to do this read your addiction timeline to the to the people on the floor that you were seeking treatment with this time in March while I was reading my timeline to our group therapist therapist said you're done We don't have no more time And we been working on it for about 25 or 30 minutes His not allowing me to finish my timeline something that I feel I needed to do and every client is required to do, so he's cutting me short on my therapy when already I paid for myself to be there, my my bill was covered. the therapist in question what's a certified addiction counselor with a lot of schooling and background. and for them to ask me to leave the program early on March 29th for saying a joke to a gentleman that came in the night before in between me and him away from the group. so this time ago round in March 20th through April 3rd at West Pines I was neglected the services that I paid for I was neglected to care that I deserve and the counselors and therapist pushed me out the door. for telling a joke with the word Dick in it. I didn't call anyone that I didn't say that to anyone to be in a demeanor manner directed at them was a joke keep in mind we got people coming out of prisons and jails and institutions and off the street And you don't think they talked a little bit different. very very poor experience this time at West Pines. and please believe West Point save my life in 2021 from my alcoholism I have not had a drink of alcohol since that day and I am very grateful to them but why would I not be allowed the same treatment in 2023 that I received in 2021 is mind boggling. needless to say I will not recommend West plans to one person ever in my life and I will never go back to that facility Praying Lord God that I don't need to. I would highly recommend anyone to search for a better place and that truly cares about their clients and patients it's the same they have very nasty nurse named Al--sa that truly does not know how to deal with individuals. the therapists were disrespectful and not caring for each individual and the same type treatment that each one of us would deserve.
