Peyote is a cactus plant which is given hallucinogenic properties through the chemical Mescaline which it contains. The above-ground part of the plant is either dried and chewed or soaked and (the liquid) is drank to release the properties of the Mescaline. Like all hallucinogens, Mescaline alters ones perceptions of reality, time and sensory functions. Visit the Peyote page for more information.
