Amongst the many problems I encountered at this facility, this is the straw that broke the camel's back....As a male, I have been to other treatment facilities where there is a relatively invasive strip search. I get that this is standard protocol to see if people are bringing drugs into the facility. As a male, I have always been checked by a man.At Retreat, I was checked by a male CA while a female was standing directly next to him for seemingly no reason. I had to sit on this a few days to understand why this bothered me before I decided to tell my counselor. Couldn't really get an answer if this was standard protocol.I am not scarred by this, however if the roles were reversed, this would be a LAWSUIT waiting to happen. I don't think any woman would put up with a unknown male standing in a room the size of a bathroom stall while having to "spread their cheeks and cough". This could be traumatic, especially for women who have been sexually abused. As I stated, I am not traumatized, but I feel taken advantage of and demasculated especially coming in at my most vulnerable with addiction issues. I discussed with several other male patients to ask if this had happened to them, none of them had a female watching their scrotum and ass being searched.I know that Retreat is understaffed currently due to Coronavirus, but this is unacceptable. If you couldn't find 2 male CA's to perform this, then I should have waited. If this process is this lax towards a female, then this company could be facing a lawsuit. Just putting this out there.

As a previous patient of Retreat, I cant say they are the first place I would recommend to anyone looking for help. The atmosphere is great and it feels very individualized. Nice facility and you will meet a lot of great people there who will spend as much time needed to help you any way they can

I wasn't a resident but the spouse of someone who chose rehab of her own free will, so I can't speak to her experience. I can only speak of my own. I attended the four hour Family Education Program, took notes and even questioned those giving the presentation repeatedly. On the subject of cigarettes and money for the card I was told clearly not to send more than would cover a carton of cigarettes. Since the Retreat was over an hours drive, I planned to go home, figure out the cost of a carton of cigarettes, and place it on her card. When I told those teaching the FEP my plan, the quickly and strongly encouraged me NOT to give her the entire amount at one time. I clarified that we were talking about my wife, not my daughter, and was told that because she is an addict (alcoholism) I should treat her the same as a kid, and control all of our finances for a year after she got out of rehab. The next day, she called for one of our ten minute speaker conversations wanting more money. I tried to explain what I was told about money for cigs and her outreach coordinator got on the phone and explained that I was mistaken. She said this is front of my wife. Not wanting to be the bad guy, and totally supporting my wife's rehab I agreed to putting a small amount on the cashless card. Then proceeded to email both outreach and her therapist about my concerns. I never got an actual response to my questions, just defensive emails designed to cover their own actions. In addition, when my mother passed away, there was no communication between weekend and weekday staff regarding funeral visitation resulting in a drive to Lancaster for our family session when I thought I was driving there for visitation. They may or may not do well by the addicts. They are unprofessional and inconsistent with families.

Awful place. Had better communication about the bill then getting my bed arrangements. Had a hard time transitioning into the facility because everyone came from rich spoiled families and the 21 and under crowd couldn't be stopped. Lots of cliques and groups def would go back but this place is horseshit. The doctors are awful and I was even told I had to go see the doctor so the diagnosage could be reported to my insurance for billing. Great place to ship ur kid off to if you don't want to see them for a month. Then will try to convince your kid it's a bad idea to go back home and go to one of their many recovery houses

Retreat is a kind and caring place where I began my recovery journey. Good balance of clinical therapy and holistic activities. Top notch staff, nice facilities and the food is good to boot.

Retreat's management and staff are caring and compassionate. I have felt very valued as an employee for the 5 years I've been with Retreat. Individualized treatment is imperative. Retreat provides a quality therapeutic environment and works with every person to make sure they make the most of their treatment.
