About this Facility'+'+
Oxford Treatment Center is a comprehensive addiction treatment center based in the rolling hills of north Mississippi, 16 miles outside the quaint college town of Oxford and 65 miles from Memphis, Tennessee. Our main property is a 110-acre residential treatment center situated in a peaceful, wooded setting. The campus includes a main lodge, medical services facility, patient cabins, fitness center, equestrian center and outdoor pavilion, all encircling a large private lake. Miles of walking trails wind through the surrounding woods, as wildlife such as deer, turkey, rabbits and squirrels freely roam the vast acreage. Oxford Treatment Center is licensed to provide all levels of care for drug and alcohol addiction. We offer quality, cost-effective treatment services for all addictive disorders, with a specific focus on the successful treatment of opiate dependency. For most patients, recovery begins with medical detoxification and stabilization. At Oxford Treatment Center, 12 beds are devoted to medical detox, with the remainder dedicated to the residential treatment program which follows. A typical stay is 30 days. Depending on a patient’s needs and situation, Oxford Treatment Center provides a sober-living environment after treatment. Oxford Treatment Center also operates outpatient offices in Oxford, Tupelo and Olive Branch, where it provides an intensive outpatient program and continuing care. This is a neutral review of the Oxford Treatment Center, from a person who actually went there. Everyone should know what is really going on at this place before you send yourself or a loved one into the hands of their staff for a long period of time. I was a resident at Oxford for 27 days and left AMA (Against Medical Leave), but that's not really what happened, in terms of me leaving. When you first arrive, you are placed in detoc, which was a pleasant experience and the doctor IS one of the best I've had in my life, and the most knowledgeable in the country. You are given a counselor, who you will work with one-on-one throughtout your stay. After Detox, you are moved into the cabins and begin the treatment program. Each day begins at 6AM (you have to get up) and are filled with meetings in which speakers give their experiences on their lives in actove addiction, physical activity, and various activities such as rope courses, horse riding, group therapy sessions, and speakers from NA. The cabins are very nice (with flat screen tvs, double bed rooms, and personal bathrooms in each room) and the center encourages you to bond with all of your cabin mates While the speakers were excellent, the food was great, and the program can set you up for success: there were many bad things about this place). My experience was a very negative one. I had a huge issue with my counselor and the things she would tell my family. She was dishonest about a litany of issues that had occurred while I was in recovery. They would prevent me from speaking to my family on many occassions. When I finally decided that I was leaving , no matter... I had arranged to ride home with a friend I had made at the center, who was also a patient, and planned to ride back home with him. After packing my thing...They dropped me off at the train station and left me with nowhere to go. I understand that this is a rehab facility and there must be certain precautions taken to keep everyone safe, but that went too far. The biggiest lie if all was when I first made the call to Oxford to get help. The man ran all of my insurance information abd told me that I was covered for 30 days. A week into my stay, they called me into the main office, and told me that my insurance only covered a week! They lied to me about the length of stay just to get me to go and take my insurance money! My recommendation would be to not go here. I don't wish for anybody, even my worst enemy, to have the same experience I had. If you are looking for a place to relax, learn more about addiction, and really turn your life around, you don't want to go through what i did. I hope this helps. (I'm 4 months clean---)

My experience at the Oxford Center was interesting to say the least. The nursing staff is extremely rude and unprofessional. They made me feel very uncomfortable and not cared about from day one. They will openly talk about other patients personal information right in front of you, it blew my mind. They only have one doctor for the entire center which creates absolutely zero personalized care, which is something I needed at the time and was very disappointed. This place is no more than a very expensive summer camp for you or your insurance company. They let the patients run the show. The entire staff besides three people I can think of cuss all the time and act unprofessional day in day out. I completed their 45 day program then went to their sober living house. It houses I believe 13 or 14 men there's only two small fridges and very little cabinet space. What you need to do is keep as much of your food as you can in your room because it will get eaten by someone else if you put your name on it or not. The aftercare iop program is a poorly uneducated run facility. Favoritism is always at an all time high at the in patient rehab and sober living. It was a miserable experience being to end. My advice is they're are so many very well run highly educated rehabs in America, don't waste your time or money on this one.

The staff are concerned and they have compassion. The staff has recovery time also, meaning they don't just explain the recovery process from a book they also lived it.
