Tried to start classes here. Was told to get discharge papers from my last counseling class to start. When I called to say I was unable to get the discharge papers due to weather and no sitter for a sick child. She said that the discharge papers were faxxed to her. Well why the heck didn't she call me and let me know? I'm calling everyone I know to take me to my previous place to get discharge papers. Very confusing and unprofessional experience. I was warned about this place and I should have heeded that warning.....Deena G (posting from granddaughters phone.) Post script. I'd rather pay another intake fee than go here.

I have been a client of Arvada Counseling Center since 2005. I will never forget the first time I walked through the front door there. I was a lost soul with a huge anger issue. I sat down with Tom for my intake, he asked me what had contributed to me getting arrested for DV. I gave him every conceivable excuse there was. He (Tom) looked at me and said that everything I had just told him was an excuse, and that no matter what anyone had done to me, I was responsible for what I had done. I completed my mandatory classes, and continued at least 4 years beyond that, because I wanted to make sure that I was on the right path to healing my issue with anger. I can tell you that if it wasn't for Tom, Sandra and the other staff that I came across over the years I don't know were I would be. Thank you Tom and Sandra for all the help you have given me through out the years. I have to say that all you have to do is to accept responsibility for what you have done

Wheres the no star button?! Most judgemental front desk person EVER! I got a D.U.I. while in college, back in 08', and just needed to complete my level 2 therapy and 1 last education class for D.M.V. From the moment I walked in, this woman, convinced that I had to be on probation, wouldn't believe a word I said nor any of my info on my transfer paperwork or M.V. Report. I scheduled an intake screening anyways, thinking she just had a bad day, but soon found out the poor reviews on here weren't far from the truth. I showed up for our appt. at 6pm, where she barely acknowledged me in an empty room. Once again, I was given the same line of questioning, asking me repeatedly, 'how are you not on probation,' and twice 'are you sure you don't have a warrant right now?' Getting the impression that this woman was convinced I was a hardcore criminal, I mentioned to her how I had already completed 11 of 12 level 2 education classes, and only wanted to transfer there because I moved to Arvada. She must have never had anyone go in there NOT on probation before, but she made sure I'd be on 'her probation' before I left. I informed her I haven't drank alcohol in over 2 years, when she proceeded to sign me up for random alcohol monitoring which would, of course, cost me per breathalyzer. After enduring all I could of her 'pleasure from pain,' attitude, I told her I'd just go complete my classes elsewhere, without the pre-judgement and constant smugness. I just wanted to transfer here so I could get my license back, but soon found out this front desk woman isn't there to help at all. She just wants to force you to sign up and pay for irrelevant services, all the whilst reminding you of her power over your situation. It's a far cry for sure, from Broadway counseling services, where I already completed most of my classes. This review is in no way to discredit, the actual counselors there, just the front desk face they decide to have rudely interrogate people that walk in. Definitely speak with someone else if you can.

Hi Tom and Sandra, Marc. I just wanted to say how much I am grateful for the help during the past 14 months of DUI treatment. DUI's are not any fun, but you all helped make it enjoyable and I learned a great deal about myself.

Getting a DWAI is a very stressful and lengthy process but Arvada Counseling Center made my required therapy classes enjoyable and a memorable learning experience. Tom was my counselor and he was wonderful. He had a nonjudgmental attitude towards everyone and added humor and insight to all we learned about. Sandra was always pleasant to talk to when she was at the front desk and we also had some nice conversations. I know they are both there if I need anything even though my classes are done. I highly recommend them!
