SUBSTANCE ABUSE PREVENTION PROGRAM
Archways Prevention Department currently provides a range of substance abuse services and programs to youth in our community. Current programs include Positive Action and Life Skills Training, which are universal, evidence-based programs designed to increase protective factors that help children and adolescents make healthy life choices and avoid alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. Prevention services aim to increase awareness of substance abuse through participation in community-based events and strategies.
Positive Action is a systematic educational program that promotes an intrinsic interest in learning and encourages cooperation among students. It works by teaching and reinforcing the intuitive philosophy that you feel good about yourself when you do positive actions.
The effects of the program range from increased academic achievement to dramatic reductions in problem behaviors.
LifeSkills Training (LST) is a research-validated substance abuse prevention program proven to reduce the risks of alcohol, tobacco, drug abuse, and violence by targeting the major social and psychological factors that promote the initiation of substance use and other risky behaviors. This comprehensive and exciting program provides adolescents and young teens with the confidence and skills necessary to successfully handle challenging situations.
PSYCHO SOCIAL REHABILITATION
Psychiatric rehabilitation, also known as psychosocial rehabilitation, and sometimes simplified to psych rehab by providers, is the process of restoration of community functioning and well-being of an individual diagnosed in mental health or mental or emotional disorder and who may be considered to have a psychiatric disability.
