Working out how you could pay for treatment in a drug or alcohol rehab center can be a stressful experience. However, thanks to the 2010 Affordable Care Act, you no longer have to cover these costs by yourself. If you have an insurance policy with Health Partners Health Insurance, your out of pocket costs could be minimized.

The Affordable Care Act and Substance Abuse Treatment

The Affordable Care Act has determined that addiction is a mental health condition and should be covered as such. Exactly how different insurance companies do that  is down to their own discretion and assessments. Unfortunately, Health Partners Health Insurance has one of the most complex methods of making this assessment, even stating on their own website that they do not directly cover the cost of substance abuse treatment. Rather, they work together with other organizations to cover this treatment, and each of these organizations once again has their own rules and regulations. By calling (866) 578-7471 you can determine what your insurance plan covers to make a decision on how you will proceed with your rehabilitation.

Drug Rehab with Health Partners Health Insurance

If you have a Health Partners Health Insurance Policy, your first step should be to find a rehab center that accepts this type of insurance. That center will be able to tell you what the cost of your treatment is going to be and they will also tell you when this has to be paid for. Do also make sure that you are informed if there are any changes in your treatment along the way so you can check your coverage.

Generally speaking, treatment centers that accept Health Partners Health Insurance will complete an insurance check for you. This means that they will communicate with your insurance company on your behalf to determine how much you will have to pay yourself. This is very important as it means that no miscommunication is likely to take place, thereby further reducing your stress level and enabling you to focus on your recovery.

Struggling with an addiction to cocaine, methamphetamine, opiate, or alcohol is a very difficult situation to be in. Fortunately, helpful personnel and treatment programs are out there to help you recover. These include holistic treatment programs, pharmaceutical therapies, and behavioral therapies. Put together, this will give you the coping skills that you need in order to finally achieve sobriety and maintain it as well.

Maintaining sobriety is mainly down to strong aftercare. Good facilities offer a range of different treatment options, including inpatient and outpatient care that enable you to require less and less intensive support as you go on. However, the starting point of you beating your addiction has to be a period of detox. This should be medically managed because dealing with the withdrawal symptoms is incredibly uncomfortable and sometimes downright dangerous. Without the support of a strong medical team, it is far too likely that you will end up relapsing and giving in to temptation.

Mental Health Services and Drug and Alcohol Treatment with Health Partners Health Insurance

Health Partners Health Insurance does not directly cover treatment for mental health or drug and alcohol addiction. They cover people in five specific counties and work together with agencies within those counties in order to ensure that people can receive treatment.

These counties are:

  1. Philadelphia County, where Health Partners Health Insurance works together with Community Behavioral Health. These operate under the HealthChoices program of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and it was started in February 1997. Through this, substance abuse and mental health services for people in need were significantly expanded. Partnerships have been formed between public resource managers and clinically experienced people. Put together, they aim to develop compassionate care for the most vulnerable citizens of Philadelphia. They are committed to making sure patients are successful on their road to recovery.
  2. Bucks County, where Magellan Behavioral Healthcare manages the substance abuse and mental health issues. Again, this is for County HealthChoices members. Magellan Behavioral Healthcare offers a wealth of resources within the community, including a member newsletter and various links to information on the assistance that is available within the county. They regularly update their information to make sure people can get the most out of their benefits.
  3. Chester County, where the Community Care Behavioral Health manages rehab treatment. These services have been designed to help people with substance abuse and mental health problems. The HealthChoices plan lists the various benefits that are available. For Community Care, the goal is to make sure that the overall health and well being of the entire community is as good as it can be by delivering accessible and effective behavioral health services.
  4. Delaware County, where the Magellan Behavioral Healthcare division manages mental health and substance abuse problems, available to members of the Delaware County HealthChoices program. This program lists a wealth of providers, as well as having many important resources and newsletters written by members. Furthermore, they provide a wealth of information on things that are going on and that are available in the county itself. They encourage members to check back regularly to determine whether there have been any changes to benefits.
  5. Montgomery County, where the Magellan Behavioral Healthcare department manages substance abuse and mental health issues, specifically for members of the Montgomery County HealthChoices program. Under this program, a range of different behavioral health providers are covered. Additionally, it allows people access to various community services. Information is shared through their website through newsletters and shared experiences.

Nothing Should Stop You from Getting Treatment

Health Partners Health Insurance is an extremely complex insurance provider. What matters is that there is help out there for you and that you must be covered to some degree thanks to the provisions made in the Affordable Care Act. It is likely that your insurance policy will not cover 100 percent of your treatment. However, this should not stop you from getting the treatment that you need. There are various systems in place, including treatment loans or payment arrangements with the center you want to go to, that will enable you to pay for whatever your insurance company does not cover.
