Yes. taking pain medication long term for the treatment of chronic pain is dangerous. The pain medication could trigger your addiction to come back full force. There are other treatments available. Keep in mind that narcotic pain medication can actually cause the sensation of pain. This makes it difficult to properly address the situation.
