PAX House Altadena, CA

Facility Rating:

Where do I start?! This place saved my life. Literally. I came in with a vicious alcoholic addiction and left with an extraordinary amount of knowledge and understanding of my disease, sobriety and how to maintain my sobriety. ALL of the counselors were friendly, caring and understanding. There was not a single thing I would change about my experience or Pax house. The entire staff , from the volunteers to management to the owners, were there for me at my low moments and cared about my well being. It felt more like a family setting rather then a typical hospital style rehab. I thank God for being put in this specific facility.I highly recommend for ANY type of substance abuse patient that needs true help. I can't thank Pax house enough!!

About PAX House

Pax House provides a uniquely serene and embracing atmosphere for those learning how to overcome drug addiction or substance abuse. Our facility, located in the foothills of Pasadena, offers a comfortable home-like environment for any seeking treatment in the Pasadena and Los Angeles area. Here, we are able to facilitate treatment programs varying in length (30, 60, or 90 days), tailored to the needs of each client and utilizing proven treatment modalities to impart the deeper change necessary for lasting recovery. We have experienced, licensed, and certified clinicians and staff members that focus their attention on meaningfully interacting with each client. The entire staff works together to not just provide the highest level of treatment, but also to serve as personal role models for living happy, fun, healthy, and sober lives. Early recovery is difficult. But by instilling positive and lasting

reinforced through close individualized and personal attention, we help our clients minimize the risk of relapse. We are a beacon of peace in the saturated landscape of residential treatment facilities in California. Pax House uses the evidence-based therapeutic technique known as Motivational Interviewing (MI). MI is a non-judgmental, non-confrontational, and non-adversarial approach that attempts to increase an individual’s awareness of the full potential impact of their actions and behaviors. The program helps them envision a better future for themselves and find the motivation to achieve it. People change their sense of what is possible for their lives when they begin to fully grasp what might be gained through change. Pax House works with each participant to access the critical hope and motivation needed to change a particular behavior or life circumstance not consistent with their renewed vision for their own lives.

When I went to Pax House, I was a mess. I was sent to treatment by the courts and did not want to be in rehab in any way. I knew I had a problem but I wasn't willing to admit it or do anything about it. I am so thankful that Pax House was the place that I went to. The staff was caring and helpful. They never made me feel ashamed about my past. They gave me suggestions and showed me a way where I could live a life happily. I did a little over 60 days and each day was a blessing. I now have over a year of being clean and sober and I've truly never been happier. I will forever be in debt to the owners and all the staff that have helped me on this journey.

I traveled from Oklahoma and I had a wonderful experience with Pax House, they helped save my life, and I will always consider them my family! The staff there is professional, knowledgeable, and always strives to give the utmost care and support. The owners have an evident passion for helping the clients, providing a personable experience for each client, through support and understanding. The facility is beautiful, very homey, and I felt comfortable as soon as I arrived. The atmosphere is so open, friendly, and caring making the recovery process easier. Pax House has helped me transform my life, even after residential they are a huge part of my support network and I will be forever grateful!

13 months ago I had spiraled so deep into the trenches of my alcoholism, drug addiction, and spiritual bankruptcy that the only way I thought I could escape was by ending my life. Instead I started on a path to find help. Nine months and three treatment centers later I found Pax House. The prior treatment centers that I had attended were owned by a company with posh accommodations and numerous amenities. However, with large populations and packed groups settings, I felt like just another insurance policy going through a revolving door. That all changed when I found Pax House. From my first day at residential treatment and up to today I know that I have found a home. The staff are an experienced, knowledge, and intensely compassionate group of individuals that helped to bring me back to life in ways that I never thought possible. They cared for me when I had stopped caring for myself long ago. They helped to restore hope and faith in myself and in my future. The tight-knit and intimate climate they have foster...

My PAX house experience was a wonderful foundation for sobriety.
A structured program that focuses on recovery in a beautiful nurturing environment.
There is also a good balance of 12 step, addiction/alchoholism education, relapse prevention, exercise and focus groups led by a caring, knowledgable staff.
IF ONE IS LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO SIT AROUND, LAMENT, SMOKE CIGARETS AND BUY TIME BETWEEN RELAPSES, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR THAT.
If one is SICK AND TIRED OF BEING SICK AND TIRED and WANTS a good chance at RECOVERY, educating ones self about the dis-ease of alcoholism/addiction, learning the basic tools while gaining mental, spiritual and physical health back, THIS IS THE PLACE.
Once I was in the mood to eat, I found the food quite excellent and well prepared.
I especially appreciated the owners and staff being actively involved not only in their own recovery, but present for ours and leading by example.
Taking us to outside meetings, the gym, hikes (when ready to do so) sharing fellowship and feeling p...
