I see Dr. Schellhaus here, and this review is based solely on her. She is amazing. If I moved, I'd drive hours back to continue being her patient. She cares, does not pass judgement, listens, and goes above and beyond what is expected of her.

Chestnut Ridge is alright but you have to make sure they're doing right by their patient. The staff is poorly trained and the hospital lacks the needed resources to take care of patients. Impatient in the adult unit is laughable. They mess with patients medications and are incompetent. The building is old but it's a decently clean space. There are some good people at Chestnut Ridge but overall it's a bad experience for patients. My wife has been admitted three times. The first time they suddenly stopped a medication of hers and days later she attempted suicide. They deserved a malpractice suit but it wasn't worth the trouble. Considering that WVU otherwise has pretty good quality of care in their facilities I've been extremely disappointed in Chestnut Ridge.

When I call the medicine clinic for a appointment or to find out about getting medicine approved or any questions,If CATHERINE answers the phone, she is very rude she should not have a job there, she won't help you, but will have you upset before you get off the phone with her.. other than Catherine working there it's a good place to come for help of any kind,

Honesly this place isn't bad I prefer this place over the places in my town, dr. Halima is awesome but the therapist I was assigned I feel doesn't care for my case I had to cancell an appt due to lack of transport I cancelled over 48 hours before the appt which I know is preferred over last minute I tried to resceduale and the lady at the desk told me she makes her own sceduale and she would have to call me herself for that.I have been waiting over a month for that call I asked to be switched to another therapist and have yet to get a response for that either.

I have been a patient at chestnut ridge coat clinic for just over 5 years now and I would be dead without them. The medicated assisted treatment plan has done wonders for my whole life. The doctors actually really truly care. Of course its strict, especially the first couple years but if u do what your supposed to you can be successful. It is 3 hrs away from home and I could go somewhere closer but I trust my doctors and staff at chestnut ridge with my life. Very best it gets.

Came there because I have severe problems with anxiety and agoraphobia. But because I'm also being treated for substance abuse, these problems are just not treated. I had the other issues first and then self-medicated with the only thing that helped me out of a state of constant, intense anxiety, with severe insomnia, high blood pressure, inability to communicate with others at all or leave the house. But because I did this, these problems are just disregarded. I couldn't get a therapist for over two months, and when I did it was a complete joke, 15 minutes of collecting data by someone who barely seemed to acknowledge my existence. I still have no psychiatric doctor and have run out of medication once because of this, a PA finally gave me a script for Paxil. There are good doctors here, and good people, but if you have a substance abuse issue it won't be treated like a medical problem whoever you are, no matter your circumstances.

I stayed in the Adolescent Unit for 5 nights because of major depression and suicidal tendencies. We had group therapy 2+ times a day which personally didn’t help me but I did learn some helpful coping skills. Most of the time we could do whatever we wanted and I made some good friends here. My only complaints would be I wanted more personal therapy and after not being outside in a few days I felt very anxious. But overall, a good place with nice staff. Kathy was my favorite nurse💕
